CMAF
Emerging Charitable Initiatives
The Foundation, which awards the majority of its grantmaking dollars in January, has designated up to $250,000 of its 2012 unrestricted grantmaking resources to address and support charitable initiatives in the medical, health and wellness arena that emerge during the 2012 calendar year. This step is being taken to maintain the Foundation’s flexibility and be responsive to significant and worthy “new” charitable initiatives that surface during the remainder of the year.
Requests for funding support must be made by a physician, physician group, or member of the CMAF Board. The applicant organization (or fiscal agent for the applicant organization) that will be instrumental in the program, project or initiative must be a tax exempt organization under section 501 (c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, a private foundation as identified by section 509 of that code, or recognized as an instrumentality of state/local government. Support consideration will be given to charitable initiatives that transform the health system, significantly impact a vulnerable population, represent a new and innovative approach to solving a health and wellness problem, and/or address a newly identified health and wellness issue. Priority will be given to those initiatives in which funds awarded may be used to leverage additional funds in support of the initiative.
All requests for funding support must be made using the Emerging Charitable Initiative Grant Application (download above). Grant requests will be reviewed and considered throughout the calendar year, or until such time as available funds are exhausted; whichever occurs first.
