CMA
Disaster Preparedness
CMA Announces Creation of the Medical Practice Coordination Plan to be Implemented in the event of a Wide-scale Disaster The plan creates a vehicle for communication amongst the practices that would remain open during a disaster, as well as a mechanism for sharing of resources, information and staffing. Those practices that would plan to remain open during a disaster are considered "designated medical offices." During a disaster, the designated medical office contacts would be advised that the SharePoint networking website has been activated for their use. The creation of this networking plan is the third tier of disaster preparedness work the CMA has been doing on the part of the physician practices over the past decade. This initiative joins the other work the CMA has done including creation of the Influenza Pandemic Ghidelines for Independent Medical Practices in Central Ohio, distributed to all Franklin County physicians in 2009, and creation of the personal protective equipment (PPE) stockpile for medical practices in the event of a disaster which may cause shortages to physician practice supplies on-hand. To participate as a "designated medical practice", or for more information, contact Francie Kaufman at (614)255-4397 or at fkaufman@goodhealthcolumbus.org. Pandemic Influenza Preparedness Plan
